THE STORY
Follow a horizontal pathway of stones just off Old Canton Road, and you will find a bridal fashion house filled with modern, unique, classic, and fashion-forward designs that fit every figure. Samantha Woo creates feminine gowns that celebrate curves, celebrate life, and are uniquely designed to celebrate you.
A wedding dress designer born into generations of ready-to-wear fashion knowledge, Woo was born in Vietnam and raised in the U.S. She learned much of her craft from her mother, Su, a sewing and beading master, and artist father, Toan Tran. Fabric swatches and dress sketches fill her design studio, and they are all "laced" with inspiration from the U.S. and her travels abroad.
Woo has always been fascinated with designing wedding dresses. "I love going to weddings. I love seeing wedding dresses..." She would sneak into weddings every chance she got as a child, which inspired many of her early sketches...that inspiration never left her.
"The wedding is something special, something intimate, and your dress must be all of that and more. Dreams, desires, and the ability to dance into the night. So much goes into every stitch, every seam, and every detail to bring all of that to life. It is my life's work, and my dream since childhood to design gowns for the classic, modern, and fashion forward bride."
Woo came to the United States when she was 13, still dreaming of bridal design, even while achieving a bachelor's degree in history and political science. She never stopped believing. Throwing herself into fashion design at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, she received her master's degree in fine art from Mississippi College.
Still undecided on a career path, she married the love of her life, husband, Dr. Mack Woo, a physician at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. After designing five gowns for her own wedding, it was decided. She was a designer with big aspirations.
Samantha Woo is a bridal designer with passion, a past, and a genuine desire to surpass expectations. Her designs are everything you want them to be and more. She designs classic silhouettes with unexpected beading, delicate lace details, and appliques you can only dream of. Not only that, she creates one-of-a-kind custom couture designs during special one-on-one private appointments.
